My experience with Satire Off-Broadway was an incredible experience. I enjoyed working with the staff so much that I offered to assist in the production. I have seen the show more than once and have enjoyed each actor's translation of the script and how differently performed it can be. However in the midst of helping and coaching my bestie for his roles, I was casted in with one skit and one intro. However regardless of it only being one skit I still was happy to be performing once more in Satire Off-Broadway. I worked with a wonderful cast who truly embraced each role and performed to their fullest. The best part about working with the crew and cast members is the fact that people were understanding and tried their best to work with each other's schedule. The rehearsal's were a blast experimenting with the vaudeville acts and making each other laugh. However the best part about working with this cast is that on one of our shows we received a standing novation. It's the moment every actor sparks for in theatre, to know you did that good of a job and made the audience laugh a lot. What makes Satire so amazing for me is the skits, it brings back the Abbott & Costello, Lucille Ball, Second City feel while pointing out the things in life we all mock at especially when living in New York City. The crew for Satire are always incredibly helpful and always going the extra mile to make sure each individual actor has full comprehension of the role and where it is coming from. One of the many confusing aspects of acting is that at times you are not always given enough information to give the director what they are asking for of you, as a model they will correct you hastily but not for acting sometimes. If anyone wanted to experience the authenticity vaudeville in modern times or if someone wanted to be given a chance to explore their inner worlds as an actor and get to know a fantastic crew and director I would recommend it to everyone. To bring that much laughter into the hearts of our audience is purely magical.
Sincerely,
Chantal Aytes
There are projects that come together that can introduce an individual to other wonderful creative people. There are projects that are fun and collectively breathe taking, I find this to be one of my personal favorite for each time I performed this show. It's the only show that I have done and came back for more 3 times in a row. I'm looking forward to working with the staff again for an upcoming new show and expanding so much further on these newly planted horizons.
