Hi testing another multiple platform poster

July 8, 2013

It's always sunny in Philadelphia

I boarded my train to the beautiful city of brotherly love. I enjoyed the stay in Malvern to audition for a wonderful young beautiful woman. I must return to Malvern due a delicious breakfast I had, and I must say I fell in love with Julia's Place.

With this on the door how could not smile.  I will always find my way back to a  scrumptious plate. There was a cute market across the street from the diner. I took the sights in, sat in fresh cut grass and talked with the flowers. Of course like usual I did find a cemetery...I'm onto the theory that the dead is stalking me ;-) (I kid) but I must admit I like Malvern. My only complaint is the heat, but that's just because winter is my favorite season. Winter, fall then summer...spring I find to be mother nature's time of menopause. The audition left me tense yet at ease, I took the time to meditate in the bathroom and remember what Henry Winkler told me at Wizard Con. I am considering returning tomorrow to obtain some of those delicious pancakes and fresh squeezed orange juice. However after my audition the heat was beginning to get to me. Made my way to my hotel to shower off the heat and get ready to explore. So far I can see that Philly is very prideful to the history it holds.
What I find so fascinating about these fountains is the fact there is chlorine in it and people get into it like an actual pool except no swimming is permitted....so should have brought my favorite bathing suit or maybe grab a random cute one who knows. But this city is very beautiful...just incredibly difficult for me to enjoy in the heat. I want to hit the SPY Exhibit but I'm now sure. I'm lined up with a bunch of auditions & a new hairstyle. Now because I have been to Philly before I headed out to Chinatown to this delicious Vietnamese bowl shop I found the last time I was there. Let me tell you something about myself...I NEVER FORGET HOW TO FIND GOOD FOOD! I went to California years ago for the first time and found food, when I went to Japan I left my hotel earlier than everyone else and found food and my way back. I am a true gastronome at heart and I will always find my way back to a good plate food...like most cats ^^ but anyways I have to admit I'm not having as much fun like I did in Boston but I think once I get the chance to really bask in the city and perhaps return with a license I can explore much more. But once I left my quiet hotel room I was ready for anything, and so I ventured off to where one of my favorite singer/songwriter P!nk is from Doylestown. I found a wonderful scary looking museum
but that's not what I fell in love with. In between auditioning and trying to travel like a PA native, the heat once again was kicking my butt. I become incredibly moody like most when I'm too hot. So I ventured off into the distance and came across and kind older Indian man, I asked about the local shopping center for a restroom, shade from the sun and good food. He asked do you like Indian food? I said of course I do, who doesn't? He pointed me to his restaurant of course and when I went inside the music was playing and I could hear the Kali ma chants in the music and the beautiful very Indian interior design. I started going through the menu and then I realized they had lamb. Not to sound bad but seriously there's a reason why that poor animal is so sacrificial...he's flipping delicious my favorite thing to eat but not always accessible so of course I ordered some Lamb Biryani and Naan (plain). I like to devour my food but I took a bite of the rice with the lamb and it fell apart and melted in my mouth. I almost cried at how delicious it was and still is. I must have stayed there a full hour after receiving my food chatting a little bit with the staff of Kawa Grill (seriously go there!!!!) and truly savoring every single second of the food. OMG this must be what true love is like, it was so delicious. I will be returning forever, I don't care even if I'm home in NY I will be traveling all the way to Doylestown, PA just for some good Indian food but I can't cheat on my Indian food hubby Chef in NY when I'm home, but it was like he was there in PA with me. Oh Kawa Grill, I love you. Of course I took extra food to go back to the hotel, there's no way the hotel can bring this kinda perfection to my room.

Now I've been to Pennsylvania many times but have never had the pleasure of truly enjoying it. I could roam the college campus I was supposed to attend or find a  haunted experience or do nothing....but I can do nothing anytime and being unproductive is merely a small slip of insanity to me. I have to stay busy, if I'm not driving myself mad with ambition, I'm dying into a virtuous insanity....so I must move. I've even managed to make my way out to Delaware, and instead of driving through it like I used to when I was young on the way to Virginia I got to bask in a beautiful park

So far I've hit Malvern, Doylestown, Norris & even found the stadium up by AT&T station, what a fantastic golf course and park by it. Oh Penn what more adventures do you have in store for me . This is the best fourth of July kick off ever!

Wizard Con !!!!!!!!!!!

I originally bought the tickets as a gift for my bff for a "at the end of the month Father's Day" gift. It was a blast. I managed to dive myself into a few swords, awesome shirts, new upcoming comics and marvel at and with the stars from Norman Reedus to Pam Grier, Ralph Macchio, Michael Rooker, Laurie Holden, Anthony Michael Hall more but my personal favorite was Henry Winkler. I spotted him in a shirt that I know I've seen him in before and I spotted him from across the entire room without reading his name. I am a huge fan of Henry Winkler. I was so nervous to approach him but I got my picture and autograph which made my gift to my friend a gift for myself. I became a school girl in a candy store. I've never been so excited to meet someone before, I even got to ask him some advice for an actor. Although I'm confident my friend would describe the moment far much more embarrassing for me but hey it was worth every second. I even got a hug & kiss on the cheek, everything didn't matter after that. I'm confident I'm from another era & died young & came back in the 80's, my bff suggested if the actor who used to do Alf was there would have completed the week.

Now some people think due to my youth I'm not familiar with older shows but quite frankly my parents are 60's kids so of course I know these things. I spent a good chunk being familiar with the older generation than knowing what the kids in my classes were talking about, it's one of the reasons why my bff has a good 14 years ahead of me but I keep up with him and we like the same stuff like Adam West to the original Spiderman. I even adore Little Audrey cartoon and once I was exposed to that and Shirley and so much more I naturally choose to watch shows like Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Mary Tyler Moore, That Girl, Mork & Mindy and more. Besides my love for good and corny horror flicks and kung fu, the older shows steal my heart away. And just days before I went into an audition and had the opportunity to be in a surprise Q & A while waiting to be auditioned with Marlo Thomas giving out advice to all the actors in the room. It's been a pretty kick butt week, with the combo of booking a nick commercial later this week. I don't think today couldn't have gotten any better, I just hope that as my career continues to rise that Mr.Winkler won't remember me as the shy girl hiding behind her friend.

Best Day ever!, of course mingling for business too ^^

Satire OFF-Broadway for a third time

My experience with Satire Off-Broadway was an incredible experience. I enjoyed working with the staff so much that I offered to assist in the production. I have seen the show more than once and have enjoyed each actor's translation of the script and how differently performed it can be. However in the midst of helping and coaching my bestie for his roles, I was casted in with one skit and one intro. However regardless of it only being one skit I still was happy to be performing once more in Satire Off-Broadway. I worked with a wonderful cast who truly embraced each role and performed to their fullest. The best part about working with the crew and cast members is the fact that people were understanding and tried their best to work with each other's schedule. The rehearsal's were a blast experimenting with the vaudeville acts and making each other laugh. However the best part about working with this cast is that on one of our shows we received a standing novation. It's the moment every actor sparks for in theatre, to know you did that good of a job and made the audience laugh a lot. What makes Satire so amazing for me is the skits, it brings back the Abbott & Costello, Lucille Ball, Second City feel while pointing out the things in life we all mock at especially when living in New York City. The crew for Satire are always incredibly helpful and always going the extra mile to make sure each individual actor has full comprehension of the role and where it is coming from. One of the many confusing aspects of acting is that at times you are not always given enough information to give the director what they are asking for of you, as a model they will correct you hastily but not for acting sometimes. If anyone wanted to experience the authenticity vaudeville in modern times or if someone wanted to be given a chance to explore their inner worlds as an actor and get to know a fantastic crew and director I would recommend it to everyone. To bring that much laughter into the hearts of our audience is purely magical.

Sincerely,
Chantal Aytes

There are projects that come together that can introduce an individual to other wonderful creative people. There are projects that are fun and collectively breathe taking, I find this to be one of my personal favorite for each time I performed this show. It's the only show that I have done and came back for more 3 times in a row. I'm looking forward to working with the staff again for an upcoming new show and expanding so much further on these newly planted horizons.

Michael Horn, Satire Off Broadway

As a model turning actress it can be difficult to be taken seriously. Generally it is expected that I know how to smile for the birdie but to be taken seriously as an actress the switch can seem weightless and falling at the same time. I submitted to Michael Horn and learned an awful lot. I learned first off that I was going to be performing at the Producers Club apart of a comedy skit that brings the Abbott & Costello, the vaudeville acts, the Lucille Ball, the original comedy of Hollywood to stage with a modern twist to it. The performance is a combination of skits for an hour of laughter for the actors as well as audience.
As a model I am very accustomed to being told what the client wants and doing exactly what I am told to do, alongside with the feedback immediately. With acting reciprocating feedback can be like pulling teeth and there are moments when the actors are not told what is expected of them to do with the scripts. Many of the times actors are blind and can loose opportunities because they were not told what the director wanted. With Michael Horn I can guarantee he will talk to you and explain to you exactly what he is looking for and will work with you as a talent. He tells you from the beginning if there is something you do not want to do or do not want to say you don't have to do it, he will adjust it to make sure the actors are happy and comfortable and having fun with the material. He really does care for his actors and audience. He's also honest and sweet. One of the most fun I've had working especially for theatre. I've seen many things backstage as well as behind the scenes of the camera and I like the way Michael directs and works with his cast. I loved working with the material and Michael so much, I came back for another audition to do the skits again. I was assigned different skits and got to know another wonderful cast.
Michael Horn will give you a chance and often in this business this is the kind of person you need in this business. Someone who see's your potential and will use it and help you expand on your acting horizons with great material. I'd recommend working with him anytime to anyone.

Sincerely,
Chantal Aytes

Bostonians, the Suburban New York

Beginning the journey with my soigne smile and ambition, and listening to Boston on the way there.  I take full pleasure in my travels at experiencing the world at its best and worst seeking how each city functions and learning some tricks. I must admit Boston has a New York Lite feel to it, although it was terribly colder than I expected but Uniqlo always tends to my heating needs thankfully. I saw people were traveling to work but no stores open just yet, but what I fell in love with was the consistency of Dunkin Donuts (even with one across the street from another one)  and discovering Dunkin Radio (which is quirky & entertaining), with barely any Starbucks in sight. I don't hate Starbucks, we're simply not friends we speak only when I've run out of my tazo supply in my purse....and I'm desperate for some. However turning the corners like NYC, and finding that Boston runs on Dunkin was :D  Although I was expecting to still be met with a military like presence like the city I just left due to an senseless, stupid, useless unfortunate bombing. I only found proud stern cops, quiet streets and no curiosity about me, I blended in and fit. I was also curious to see if people would be jumpy after what happened but they carried this "We don't take any BULL..... from anybody!" New York feel to it and I loved it knowing the city felt that way.

Although my only complaint is not finding a Barnes and Nobles as easily as I hoped for like in Seattle but that's because I didn't know where I was going and unfortunately where I saw where one was it was where it was blocked off due to the unfortunate violent attakcs. I did find the Hubway fascinating, but could not ride one due to my skirt choice but next time! I have learned why my only Boston friend has a serious face like I do, and most of the people do but they are friendly.....I'm suspicious its because of the cold. So for once my serious face wasn't met with "why are you angry???" which gets annoying because I know in NYC if I walk with a BIG smile on my face I'll be marked crazy not happy -_-  I arrived at the docks and had to listen to Otis Redding to complete the moment.

I found the bigger equivalent mall of Time Warner and found interesting stores like OroGold Cosmetics, Neiman Marcus & Kim's Fashion for your Asian (particularly Chinese & some Vietnamese) attire I saw in the store, at least what I saw from the window. I got a great recommendation and made a run to it after my audition. However OroGold Cosmetics is something to write home about. When I met Jac at the store he showed me how wonderful their peel was, it worked within seconds and I didn't need water, or 20 minutes of fighting in the bathroom. All I needed was a cotton ball to rub the dead skin off and my skin was softer than I had imagined and NO residue to clean up because it was all gone. I have combination skin and working often places me under a lot of make-up and my skin gets very upset when it is overloaded. This always leads to breakouts that can get out of control, annoying and frustrating even more so because when they do "pop" or go away they scar so it's become a never ending battle. My war is won, I am in love with the OroGold Cosmetics peel I am using it once a week and this product will last me a year. Shopping for skin care just got much cheaper, I spend a lot of money over a course of time within a year between facials and at home self-care. For a tomboy this is a I usually flounder around in my dramatic tyranny that my skin holds over me.

After the peel I started checking out the store and Jac showed me a skin brightener. I admit I grabbed it being a bit skeptical, having bought many before for my spots and scars and I was astonished and amazed that after one night by morning the scars were obviously lighter. I don't fall in love with cosmetics but I would freaking check this out!!! My skin tone is much more even and no acne. He also introduced an eye cream that pulls up that constant tired look that I carry from working so much that worked over my make-up in seconds and stayed that way....what more could I possibly need not want for work! OroGold Cosmetics new Crynogenique for eye care is wonderful!!!!! I was shocked to actually see a major difference and have been dedicatedly using it every morning. Ever since I've switched to OroGold my skin has not been happier than now. I have cut down my routines by so much time and the best part is I don't need to use a lot of the product. This is going to last me a good while, say year to 2 =) For the amount of money that's wasted on products that don't work well for me or start to work or cause my acne to become worse I couldn't be happier than I am right now. I was happy enough that I hugged Jacob at the Prudential Mall, for the once I entered a cosmetic store with a sales representative who actually knew what he was talking about when it comes to products as well as other people's skin. Usually I'm bombarded with trying 50 million things just because they were about the sale, Jac personally took his time got to know me as well as show me which ones he thought would work best and I have to say I'm in love with this product. The battle is over and I've won. So due to my extreme happiness with this I am recommending it to anyone who wants to try it, even the anti-aging serum works well, I've tested this on my bff whose over 40 and his laugh lines are decreasing. I haven't had to change my facial wash and I can still use my regular moisturizer BioOil without complications but hey I was happy so I wanted the full package. I love this stuff!!!!!! So thought I'd share my wonderful Bostonian experience of cosmetics with you.

To end my wonderful journey I boarded the ship back to 1773 and gave the King a little message of what I thought about his taxes, with some other tourist and had a blast for a while and ended the tour with tea tasting that's the tea that the colonist used to drink from the Bohea tea to the "expensive" one back in the day with Young Hyson tea and a few others in between. The staff was wonderful and a lot of fun to be around. The interactive experience is a blast! I also discovered how much I walk because I was exhausted I had walked all over from downtown to across to the water up to Cambridge and even traveled as far as North Cambridge where I found this lovely Japanese supermarket. I rode the subways eventually but I wanted to feel like a Bostonian and get the full feel of the city. I must admit the one thing I adore the most about the city is the preservation of the old buildings with new names on top and the brick pavement/ cobblestone streets. The whole city is very historical and warms the heart. I love history, (Of course I paid to do a Boston Tea Party raid at the museum ). And as the day dwindled down and I became tired I decided I would go to the one place I knew would make this evening perfect....where everybody knew my name , right Sam?

And yes I did listen to Gary's song in full while I ate and drank Stoute from the classic mugs. The waitress told me I didn't have to drink the beer but who the hell goes to a bar that was renamed Cheers and drinks soda out of their mug while eating potato skins !!!!!! It wouldn't be complete it had to be beer! so I must return to this city for fun for a week or weekend and not for work so I can have all the time in the world to get to know the Suburban New York. I LOVE THIS TOWN!!!
